This Souped-Up Power Wheels Car Could Turn Any Kid Into a Speed Freak

Power Wheels are great and all, but they don't have a whole ton of power, really. Crazy/reckless/awesome dad Richard Whelan saw fit to change that, and with the DIY addition of a brushless motor to his daughter's pink Mini Cooper, he made a Power Wheel vehicle worthy of its name.
By swapping out the original motor of the extra mini Mini Cooper, Whelan did a couple of things. First there's the obvious speed boost; the modified Cooper can really cruise on pavement though it has some traction issues on grass. Second, the acceleration is now remote controlled, so while Whelan's kids can aim their new speedster at a streetlight all they want, a quick trigger finger can stop them from hitting it. But it can't stop these kids from developing an insatiable need for speed.
